Metroid Prime Trilogy

One or two of the five people reading this blog may have noticed that Last week I said I bought Metroid Prime Trilogy. That's right. And Metroid Prime Trilogy has been a game I have used as an example of the restraint this challenge has taught me. A couple times I managed to resist buying it.

Not this time. This time I gave in, and oh boy am I ever glad I did!

Metroid Prime Trilogy is amazing! I got it on eBay and last night I tested it for a few minutes. The 16:9 widescreen presentation looks beautiful and the controls with the Wii remote are brilliant. I already really liked this game on Gamecube, and it looks and plays great on Wii.

Money well spent. It will go on my next list and it will be awesome!

120 Stars

Ok, so there are 120 regular gold stars, and then you have to collect another 120 green stars before the last planet can pop up to get the 241st and 242nd stars. Since I'm not going to do that right now, I move on to Super Paper Mario on Wii.

List Almost Done

Super Paper Mario
Super Street Fighter IV AE
Super Smash Bros Brawl
Turning Point
Warioland Shake It
Wii Fit
Wii Sports
Wipeout HD

This is what's left on my current list. I can already tell that Street Fighter IV is gonna be one of those games I play till I'm happy then move on, same with Brawl, Wii Fit and Wii Sports. Almost done and ready for the next list!

Disclaimer! I may very well put Viewtiful Joe and/or Wave Race and Wave Race Blue Storm back on the list cause those games are fun.

Crunching Numbers

In February of last year I reported on how I was doing on this challenge regarding money and regarding the number of games I’d bought since starting the challenge. This is an update to that. I was very disciplined in the first two and half years, buying only 8 games. Since those 8 games, I have bought an additional 18 games for various systems. Let’s crunch a few more numbers. I’ll be perfectly honest. Mass Effect Trilogy counts as three games, and so does Metroid Prime Trilogy. In a way, it’s only 14 games, but I’ll keep the tally at 18.

The Walking Dead
Pac-Man CE DX (got my money's worth)
Super Stardust HD
DarkStalkers Resurrection
Mass Effect Trilogy
Uncharted
Uncharted 2
Uncharted 3
Super Mario 3D Land (beat it)
The Legend of Zelda Oracle of Seasons
The Legend of Zelda Oracle of Ages
Metroid Prime Trilogy
Metroid Zero Mission (beat it)
Mario Kart Super Circuit (beat it)

Since February of 2014, to May of 2015 I have spend an additional $133.65, but that comes out to just $7.42 per game! I’ve been scoping out deals and flash sales and using gift cards when possible. Add up the 18 games I bought this year, plus the 8 games I had bought previously and that’s only 26 games I have bought since the challenge started. First, I will say that out of those 26 games in all this time, 7 are beaten or I got my money’s worth (I also beat two I got as gifts, Mario Kart 7 and Star Fox 64 3D). They go on the beaten list. That leaves 19 games to go, added to the few that are on the current list. HOWEVER!!!! Let’s compare that tally and compare it to the staggering list of games I have beaten:

  • De Blob
  • The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
  • Batman Arkham Asylum
  • Beatles RockBand
  • Bionic Commando
  • Borderlands
  • Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
  • Final Fantasy V
  • Dead Nation
  • Devil May Cry
  • Devil May Cry 3
  • F-Zero GX
  • God of War III
  • Katamari Damacy
  • The Legend of Zelda (NES)
  • The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
  • The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
  • The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
  • Kid Icarus
  • Little Big Planet
  • Mario Kart Double Dash
  • Mario Kart 7
  • Mario Kart Super Circuit
  • Mega Man X
  • Mega Man X2
  • Mega Man X3
  • Mega Man X4
  • Metal Gear Solid
  • Metal Gear Solid 3
  • Metroid Zero Mission
  • Metroid: Other M
  • Motor Storm
  • Pac-Man CE DX (got more than my $0.90 worth of fun)
  • Portal
  • Portal 2
  • Punch out (Wii)
  • Samurai Shodown II
  • Shadow of the Colossus
  • Sin & Punishment Star Successor
  • Sonic Mega Collection
  • Spider-Man 2
  • Star Fox 64 3D
  • Street Fighter Alpha Anthology
  • Super Mario Galaxy
  • Super Mario Galaxy 2
  • Super Mario 3D Land

  • In three and a half years, I have beaten 46 games, and I have bought 26. Sounds like a good thing to me.

    Done With Galaxy 2

I have around 91 stars of what I assume to be 120. I saw then ending. I wanna get the rest of those stars but if there's a Luigi run, I won't do it just now.
