Thoroughly Unimpressed
Devil May Cry was a fantastic game, full of flare and style and oozing cool out of every pore. So why is Devil May Cry 2 just so boring, bland, and mediocre?
Where the original had punishing difficulty yet was wholly gratifying, Devil May Cry 2 is a chore. There's no story and the fighting just isn't fun.
Remember how in the original you could make all these combos and fling guys in the air, do a few air juggles, the smash them down in the ground by means of a giant sword slash? Or flinging them in the air and making mince meat out of them with your twin guns? There is none of that in Devil May Cry 2.
DMC2 is that cheesecake you once had, and it was awesome, and then you have it again but this time it's clear it was made by some other chef. The look is there but it's lost all its flavor.
I'm moving on. Devil May Cry 2 is pretty crappy.
